What We Do - An Overview

We are a nonprofit organization with a vision for McMeans Junior High: a positive, inclusive, supportive community where opportunities for academic excellence are always within reach.

Community Building Events & Services

We believe in school spirit and good old-fashioned fun. That's why we:

  • Design, sell, and deliver Spirit Merchandise (Go Bobcats!); and
  • Host a Variety of Student Social Events:

-Tailgate Family Dinner Event (following Town Hall Pep Rally);

-Fall After School Party ("Back to School Bash");

-Spring After School Party ("March Madness");

-Monster Mash Halloween Party;

-8th Grade Dance; and

-8th Grade Celebration on the Last Day of School.

Student & Staff Enrichment & Care

With overarching goals of inclusivity and support for students & staff, we coordinate:

  • Bobcat Pals (monthly events unifying general and special education students);
  • Campus Beautification;
  • International Festival;
  • McMeans Men (our version of Watch DOGS);
  • Monthly Staff Appreciation Events (i.e., luncheons & treats);
  • Teacher Appreciation Week;
  • Classroom Grant Program (where we fund teachers' ideas to improve their classrooms);
  • Red Ribbon Week;
  • Reflections National Art Contest;
  • Staff Professional Development (at the school's request);
  • Guest Speakers for Students (historical, mental health, etc.); and
  • Workroom Assistance (to give teachers more time for planning and instruction).

Parent/Guardian Inclusion & Support

We want parents and guardians to feel informed and included, so we dedicate many hours to:

  • Maintaining a comprehensive Calendar & Website
  • eFlyers and updates in the school's Paw Print Newsletter (emailed on Sundays);
  • Active Social Media presence; and
  • Identifying and promoting campus Volunteer Opportunities.
